Auggie History

History of designed cross-breeds

Designed crossed-breed have only rea dogs really become more popular in the last two decades, and their names usually sound strange and cute like Chiweenie, Cavapoo, or Yorkipoo. Although these names may sound silly they actually make sense, usually, they allude to the breeds they are designed from.

History of Auggie dog breed

The Auggie is also a mixed breed dog–a cross between the Australian Shepherd and Corgi, and typically, the Miniature Australian Shepherd and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi. Sometimes they’re also known as Aussie-Corgi. The two breeds both associated with herding dogs, which are recognized for their intelligence and endurance.

Just as in the case of Chiweenies or any other type of designed mix-breed dogs, it is hard to pin down the exact timing of its origin, but many believe they appeared in the 19th century.

The Australian Shepherd is a relatively recent purebred from the 1800s. It is originated from North America when the cowboys bred Australian sheepdogs with other hard-working stock dogs. They were often mixed with Basque shepherding dogs that traveled from Australia to America in those days. Basque shepherding dogs, most likely Pyrenean Sheepdogs that had been crossed with a Collie type breed were brought to America from Australia and are believed to be the foundation stock.

The Corgi is an ancient dog, dating back at least to the 11th century in Wales. It has two major types, now which only began to get differentiated in the 1920s: The Cardigan and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi. While the Cardigan and has feet that point directly forward rather than pointing slightly outward the Pembroke is slightly less heavily boned and are considered more extrovert and affectionate  These dogs were developed and employed as sheep and cattle herders as they were low enough to the ground to nip at the heels of livestock but agile enough to move out of the way before being kicked. This combination of breeds generally results in an energetic, friendly animal with a playful nature and a strong herding instinct which makes them come out well and protect kids and other animals.
