Cats are a truly international bunch

You can find them in almost every country in the world. And while each country has its own unique cats, some countries are definitely home to more cat breeds than others.

So which countries have the most cats?

Topping the list is definitely the United States, which is home to more than 70 different cat breeds. That's a lot of cats! In second place is England, with around 60 breeds, followed by Russia, with around 50.

Other countries with a lot of cats include Australia, Canada, China, and Japan.

So why do some countries have more cat breeds than others?

Well, it's partly due to history. For example, the United States has a long tradition of breeding cats, dating back to the early 1800s. In contrast, Russia only really started breeding cats in the mid-20th century.

But it's also due to geography - countries like England and Russia have been more accessible to other parts of the world, making it easier for new cat breeds to be introduced.

Whatever the reasons, there's no doubt that cats are a truly global phenomenon - and we wouldn't have it any other way!
